Plan of a trip to Kaliningrad for 5 days
It is recommended that you stay in Kaliningrad. From Kaliningrad, it will be more comfortable and faster to reach the sea shore, as well as the towns of the Kaliningrad Region.
Day 1. Welcome to Kaliningrad
It is suggested that you dedicate the first day to get acquainted with Kaliningrad. First of all, you should visit our Information Center.We have 2 addresses: Pobedy Square 1 and Oktyabrskaya str. 2/3 (near the Kant Island).

You will get a free map of the city, as well as walking routes with descriptions, a tourist's passport, and a Guest card that will allow you to save your budget (Read here about the guest card and how to avail it)
You will also be assisted in compilation of your individual holiday plan and your route in such a way that you don't miss the most interesting attractions.
It is also possible to download and print out the routes in advance.

From the Information Center, walk along the purple or blue line of the our route.
Whichever route you select, you will have enough time to see a lot and end up near the Kant Island.

Fishing village and the Cathedral at the Kant Island are considered to be the main point of attraction for tourists.
- Roam around the Kant Island (there one can find the heart of Königsberg next to the grave of philosopher Immanuel Kant);
- Attend an organ mini-concert in the Cathedral (600 rubles). It's better to buy tickets in advance on the web-site of the Cathedral;
- Find Grandfather Homlin at the Medovy Bridge;
- Ascend to the observation deck of the Mayak Tower (100 rubles), and make a wish to the bird;
- Take a boat ride along the Pregola River (1000 rubles);
- Those, who are fond of walking, should walk towards the house of the Vysoky Bridge caretaker, where you will find a free museum of postcards with views of Königsberg, and then admire the beautiful Church of the Holy Family (currently, the Philharmonic Hall), learn everything about marzipan, and buy a tasty souvenir at the Marzipan Museum in the Brandenburg Gate (free entry).
Day 2. The Curonian Spit and Zelenogradsk
Let's go to the sea! The plan is to visit the Kurshskaya Kosa National Park and the resort town of Zelenogradsk.From Kaliningrad, you will go to the Curonian Spit by car. You will have to pay eco-tax for the car and each passenger in advance on the web-site of the National Park.

At the Curonian Spit, there are eco-trails and equipped viewing decks. During one day, you will have enough time to explore just a few of them. It is recommended that you visit the Lebed Lake or the Efa Height (Vysota Efa), from where one can enjoy the stunning views of the Baltic Sea, the Curonian Lagoon, and sand dunes. On the way back, you should visit Rybachyi settlement to try dishes made of fresh Baltic fish at Fishhoff cafe-smokehouse and walk among pine trees along the Royal Forest route.
After the Curonian Spit, go to Zelenogradsk. This is a small, but very cozy town. On the main pedestrian street, Kurortny Ave., there are many buildings from the early 20 century. Zelenogradsk is well known for multiple art objects dedicated to cats that are installed on its streets: images on the walls of the buildings, cat traffic lights, cat coffee house, cat sckyscrapers with friendly inhabitants, and even hatches with cats under your feet.
Take a ride on the Eye of the Baltic observation wheel. From there you will enjoy a stunning view of the historical part of Zelenogradsk, the sea, and the Curonian Spit. You can learn about the town's history and its attractions on your own. Visit our colleagues at the Information Center, and they will provide you with all the necessary information.
Climb to the observation deck of the water tower and visit the Cat Museum that set the cat theme for the entire town.

Day 3. Svetlogorsk and Yantarny settlement
Let's continue the exploration of the sea shore and visit another resort town, Svetlogorsk.
Svetlogorsk boasts cozy houses amidst the pine forest and a panoramic lift, from where there is also a wonderful view of the sea shore. At present, major reconstruction of the promenade is ongoing, thus, you can only go to the sea by the lift or funicular.
- The atmosphere of Svetlogorsk is good for hasteless rest, as it is for a reason that it is a part of the Citta Slow association of slow towns.
- take a walk along the sea with a warming drink;
- arrange a photo shoot near the mud baths and at the central square of the town;
- roam around the town and find the clay model of Königsberg;
- revise the largest ethnographic collection on Southeast Asia, People of the Sea, and check the amber lounge at the Maritime Exhibition Center of the World Ocean Museum.
What to do in Yantarny?
- Visit the Cathedral of Our Lady of Kazan (former Palmnicken's church);
- Take a walk at the Moritz Becker park and find a rare tulip tree there;
- Walk along the wooden promenade with the length of approximately 2 km. Some sections of it pass directly over the flooded quarries where they used to extract amber;
- Visit the Amber Factory, and see for yourself how amber is being produced, or attend the Amber Chamber exhibition hall (please note that the distance between these objects is approximately 4 km).

Day 4. Castles of Eastern Prussia
Let's visit the Waldau castle. Since mid 15 century, it was the summer residence for Grand Masters of the Teutonic Order. Now, the right wing of the castle houses the Valdavsky Сastle museum.Its exhibits will introduce you to the daily life of the Teutonic Order and the Kingdom of Prussia. The left wing is occupied by the Sorokin family. They rented the castle for 25 years in order to ensure its further reconstruction. They managed to develop a new variety of asparagus, Waldau, there. You should visit in May-June to try it. One may walk around the castle with a theatrical audio guide.
In the afternoon, let's get back to Kaliningrad. Follow the second part of the our route.
Day 5. A trip to Chernyakhovsk
If you would like to see the architecture and walk along cobblestone paved streets, you should definitely include Chernyakhovsk in the list of must-visit sites.
- A water tower from 1898 decorated with the coat of arms of the town, Catholic Church of St. Bruno of Querfurt, 1902-1904;
- St. Michael's Cathedral is located in the building of a Reformed Church built in the late 19 century. Beautiful Villa Brandes;
- There you can walk along cobblestone paved streets Pionerskaya and Krupskaya, Gospitalnaya, Telmana, and pedestrian Kalinina street. At Komsomolskaya Str. you will find an impressive German residential complex Port Arthur of 1905

In Chernyakhovsk, there is an Informational Center as well, where you can get a map of the town with hints and order a tour to the Insterburg castle.
