In the very heart of Kaliningrad, you can see a beautifully preserved red brick building. This impressive pentagonal structure was erected in the middle of the XIX century and named after the Prussian regiment "Kronprinz".

The army barracks has a spacious open courtyard where soldiers used to build. For many decades, this fortification has served the army. However, in 2003, part of the defensive barracks was transferred to the operational management of the State Center for Contemporary Art in order to create a museum, exhibition, scientific and information complex of contemporary culture in Kaliningrad.

Today, the barracks houses offices, a restaurant and a glassblowing workshop.

The Kronprinz barracks is a monument of military engineering architecture, an object of historical and cultural federal (all-Russian) heritage, which is under state protection.
