If a foreign citizen decided to come to the Russian Federation, he needs to know some basic rules for the stay of foreign citizens in Russia.

The procedure for registering for migration is the notification (notification) of the territorial body of the Federal Migration Service about the arrival of a foreign citizen to the place of stay and must be carried out within seven working days after the arrival of the foreign citizen to the Russian Federation. At the same time, it is necessary to know that all procedures for the registration with the migration account are made by the Host Party, the foreign citizen himself is not required to contact any organizations and waste time.

In connection with the entry into force on March 25, 2011 of the Federal Law "On Amendments to the Federal Law" On Migration Registration of Foreign Citizens and Stateless Persons in the Russian Federation, "a foreign citizen or a stateless person must register for the place of stay within 7 working days from the date of arrival, instead of 3. Upon arrival at the place of stay, the foreign citizen presents his passport and migration card to the Receiving Party, which is filled in at the entrance to the Russian Federation. The host country can be both Russian citizens and permanent residents of the Russian Federation, foreign citizens or stateless persons (who have a residence permit), as well as legal entities, their branches or representative offices in which the foreign citizen actually resides (resides) or works (The procedure for filing a migration notice).

When settling a foreign citizen into a hotel, the host hotel is the hotel administration, which within one day notifies the territorial office of the Federal Migration Service of the arrival of a foreign citizen, and also performs all necessary actions related to the account of foreign citizens and is responsible for compliance with the established rules of stay. All the actions necessary for registration are performed by the hotel administration. A foreign citizen has the right to notify migration authorities himself of his / her arrival at the place of stay if there are documented valid reasons (illness, physical impossibility, etc.) that prevent the receiving party from independently sending a notice to the migration accounting authority.

We draw your attention to the fact that the term of temporary residence of a foreign citizen in the Russian Federation is determined by the validity of the visa issued to him. The term of temporary stay in the Russian Federation of a foreign citizen who has arrived to the Russian Federation in an order not requiring a visa can not exceed ninety days, except for cases stipulated by the legislation of the Russian Federation.

A foreign citizen must leave the Russian Federation after the expiry of the permitted period of stay. To extend the validity of the visa or the period of stay, it is necessary to apply to the migration service authorities in advance, before the expiration of the above-mentioned period.
