The Central Culture and Recreation Park was founded on the site of the former Luisenwahl Park and several German cemeteries. This was the favourite place of the Prussian Queen Luise, and is now the oldest park in the city. Emperor Wilhelm II transferred Luisenwahl to the ownership of Königsberg in 1914. The German Emperor’s hunting lodge was transported from the Romincka Forest (Krasny Les) to this park after the World War II. You can find this log building to the left of the park’s central alley. The Puppet Theatre operating in the former Queen Luise Protestant Church is located in the park. The park has amusement rides for children, and is the venue for concerts and a large Kaliningrad City Jazz festival.
